The PEOPLE Programme has several domestic and international thrusts that focus on African American and European cooperation. For the past twenty or more years the Palmers have traveled extensively throughout Western Europe developing relationships with a wide range of elected and appointed government officials, academia, trade union leaders and many other influential individuals and institutions across Europe. Their substantial professional and personal relationships and keen insight into areas of common interest and potential areas of cooperation has resulted in a number of important initiatives that African Americans have never ventured into before.
These initiatives as described would not be possible without the close and trustful relationships of the PEOPLE Programme with a wide range of prominent African American and European leaders. These initiatives have moved very quickly from concept to action and because the PEOPLE Programme only operates with volunteer leaders many other individuals and institutions in the USA and in Europe have provided much of the actual implementation. The Office of the United Nations Secretary General has contributed greatly to our efforts. Because of this we take great care and respect in our various endeavors. We see this as a long-term effort on the part of the African American community to have our unique perspective presented in international relationships and forums.
